Mt Mee Tree Planting Day
Quote:Hi All,

On behalf of Wil Buch & the QPWS team at Mt Mee, Thank you to the members of the following clubs for offering to participate the Adopt-A-Track activities in the Mt Mee section of the D’Aguilar National Park to be held on Saturday 25th August 2012:

Mitsubishi Owners Club of Queensland
Bayside Off-Roaders Club
River City 4x4 Club
Brisbane 4WD Club
Moreton Districts Off Road Club

This date is now closed for registrations as quite realistically there is only 12 or so people required on this day.

On Saturday 17th November 2012 however there is a planned Tree Planting Day at the Gantry Day Use Area, with 500+ seedlings to be planted. Therefore we would like to see as many members turn up as possible (Numbers limited for this event at 200).

We are also working to arrange a BBQ for the tree planting event. Further information as it comes to hand.

Regards

Darren McElroy
C.A.R.E. Chairperson

It would be great to see a number of members from our club turn out on the 17th Nov for this event. Put it in your calander now, there is plenty of notice! Come, socialise, have fun and give back to an area we all enjoy! Big Grin

Quote:Hi all,

As mentioned previously, 4WD Qld & QPWS Field staff are planning a tree planting event to be held at the Gantry Day Use Area on November 25, 2012.

Could those clubs with members planning on attending please send me an email giving numbers so that I can pass along to QPWS.

Around 50 people would be a good number – there are 500 trees to be planted.

Regards

Darren McElroy
C.A.R.E. Chairperson

Interested in helping out? Let me know asap, so I can forward numbers on.

Jason

ps just noticed the date let me confirm it.

Put me down along with hopefully my two kids and might even be able to drag the wife along. I only need to be back in the big smoke to start work at 4pm.

Re: Mt Mee Tree Planting Day
Hi guys,

Just recieved the following email regarding the working bee at Mt Mee.

Jason

Quote:Hi All,

Thank you to your members for offering to participate in the upcoming Tree Planting Activity to be held on Saturday 17th November at the Gantry Day Use Area in the Mt Mee section of the D’Aguilar National Park.

To date I have received notifications from the following clubs:

Mitsubishi Owners Club of Queensland 4 members
Bayside Off-Roaders Club 14 members
River City 4x4 Club 12 members
Brisbane 4WD Club 3 members
Moreton Districts Off-Road Club 5 members
Toyota Landcruiser Club 5 members
Queensland 4x4 Club 4 members

There are still a couple of places left so if your club has one or two members wanting to join in please let me know ASAP. For catering purposes I need definite numbers.

The planned activities for this event include: Weeding, Lantana removal, Planting of 500 Saplings around the Gantry Day Use Area, socialising and getting to know the Rangers.

Where do we meet?

· The Gantry Day Use Area, Mt Mee Section, D’Aguilar National Park

What time?

Plan to get to the area between 8 and 8:30 so that we can get all the paperwork done ready for a 9am start.

What members need to wear / bring:

· Long sleeve Shirt
· Long trousers
· Wide brimmed hat
· Sturdy gloves
· Sunscreen
· Water (At least 5 litres per person)
· Spade or long handled shovel
· A few jokes (Clean ones preferred – this is a Family event)
· A willingness to have some fun and enjoy the company of like-minded people

As the event is being held away from vehicular movements (i.e. not on a road) there is no need to wear high visibility shirts or vests.

With many thanks to Mitsubishi Motors Australia there will be a BBQ lunch with soft drinks provided.

As always there is the inevitable paperwork to be completed for each participant, however if the attending members have participated in any of the previous working bee at Mt Mee, then they have already completed this. Any new participants are asked to complete the attached forms and bring them along on the day.

Regards

Re: Mt Mee Tree Planting Day
The plan for the day.

Those that are travelling from the Southside. If you wish meet at BP/McDonalds Milton on Milton Road, eastern side of Suncorp Stadium near XXXX brewery at 7.00am for 7.15am departure. About 45 minutes to Dayboro.

A change of meeting time at Dayboro Service Station to 8.00am. Then about 25 minutes to Mt Mee.

9.00am start for the tree planting.

The departure times will be fairly tight. Don't forget UHF channel 28 for communication.

Please advise the location that you are going to, so we know who we need to look out for?

I'm meeting at Milton.

Quote:Hi All,

A very big thanks from the QPWS Team at Mt Mee for this morning’s turn out.

Just under 400 new trees were planted in just over 2 hours, and with thanks to Mitsubishi Australia, we all had a very nice BBQ lunch afterwards.

A big thank you as well to Mother Nature for providing perfect wether for the event, with cooler conditions during most of the morning and clear skies and sunshine for our lunch.

For the shutterbugs amongst the team, could you please send me some of your photos so that I can put them into a report for QPWS on the event.

Thank you all once again.
