Re: rivercity 4wd club membership drive weekend
I would like to see all of you at this event!
No excuses accepted

Ok I will accept valid excuses but they have to be good Confusedhock:

I have spoken to Dave Challinor from Fortified Finance, he has locked in this date and will be camping with us Wink
it would seem that even Narelle is available so I will have a co-pilot Tongue

Now down to some serious points,
We need to arrange some trips around the park and activities, finding a securing a camping area would also be a good thing

I would like to do another camp oven cook - lets say demonstration so can we arrange for someone to take control of this that actually knows what he/she is doing  I was thinking that Damper would suffice but if you want to go further then don't let me stop you..

I will be available to run a trip around some of the tracks but we need more people to help run the day.
We don't have much time so please put your thinking caps on, lock in the date.

Our usual meeting point at the Shell Aratula - 7am Departure time 7:30am maybe - with a 2nd meeting point at the actual camp site as some may wish to go directly to the park or possibly even head up the day before, just let us know.

Re: rivercity 4wd club membership drive weekend
This is what I have posted on other forums,

Meet Feral Dave at Janowen Hills 16-17 Feb

Janowen Hills is a very diverse 4wd park with many different tracks and excellent camping facilities.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://janowenhills4wdpark.bigpondhosti">http://janowenhills4wdpark.bigpondhosti</a><!-- m --> ... boutus.htm

Why not come out for a fun weekend at Janowen Hills, meet our members and mingle with our guests.

To help us enjoy the weekend I have invited a few mates, these currently include;

Dave Challinor "Feral" from Fortified Finance, Many will know Dave from the 4WD Action DVD's with Roothy and Glenn Haddon, most recently DVD 191. Dave will be joining us for the weekend, we look forward to spending time with Dave and maybe see if we can't get the Nissan dirty... oh did I forget to mention that part Dave
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://fortifiedfinance.com.au/index.html">http://fortifiedfinance.com.au/index.html</a><!-- m -->

Torque 4x4 For the best 4x4 accessories from your independent 4x4 specialists!
We hope to have a small display of their equipment plus possibly out on the tracks for some real displays - details still being worked on. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.torq4x4.com.au/">http://www.torq4x4.com.au/</a><!-- m -->

Our plan is to have several different runs around the park and some demonstrations of the more difficult tracks, join in or watch it's up to you. This weekend is intended to introduce people to the world of 4WD, bring together people with similar interests and ultimately introduce prospective members to our club.

You will find our group to be friendly and only too happy to show you around, but just as eager to sit back and let you show off your truck and abilities. For us it's not about how many dings you can get or how many rocks you can throw, it's more about how technical you can be to navigate difficult terrain with the minimal chance of damage to both you and the tracks.
But ultimately we are out there to have fun in our daily drivers, with this in mind "Beer 'O' Clock is a very important part of the day so don't be offended when we all head back to camp, gather around the fire or shady tree and just kick back joking about how many times we had to recover that Troopy, or Nissan.

The weekend is very much self catered so please bring your own food and drinks but we are planning on a damper and other camp oven cooked meals, so throw in your best recipes show off your skillz, not all will be cooking but many are only too pleased to sample your goods, often we all will just throw in what we have and see what comes out of the pot!

This event is being hosted by the River City 4WD Club of Brisbane, but you are all invited!
Remember this park is under 2 hrs from Brisbane and is easily done as a day trip so even if you cannot camp over night you are welcome to join us for a fun day in the hills.

What to bring weekend, camping kit, Food & Drinks, recovery gear and full tanks of fuel,
But most importantly your sense of humour, fun is our main aim

Meeting Point:
The Shell servo at Aratula for 7am Departure time 7:30am
If you wish to make a long weekend of it you can meet us at the park but please let me know.
Our club sits on UHF CB CH28 so if running late give us a call.

Very simple meal so maybe I can

I just had a call from the park owners after sending them an email last night letting them know about our plans..
As it turns out there is a Comp weekend on at the same time but he sees no problem with us running our own event as the other one never really attracts that many cars - 30 or so..

But there are actually a couple of advantages, firstly fees will be collected at the camp grounds, secondly the kitchen will be open most of the weekend including for a hot breakfast, burgers are $5 - 6 and I am told the steak burgers are really good using export rump Tongue
Also this means more trucks running about so maybe a bit more spectator activity for us plus more eyes on us so the advantages may run both ways

Re: Janowen Hills Feb 16 - 17th - membership drive
I spoke with Murray and Dave at Torq4x4 yesterday and they have given their humble apologies that they will be unable to make this trip due to a wedding that was previously booked for that weekend.

Any hoo, we probably need to start looking at who's attending and whether you're coming Friday night or meeting at Aratula on Saturday morning.

I'm in and hopefully coming Friday night, but that will be set in stone on Wednesday night.

Re: rivercity 4wd club membership drive weekend
Hi GTS

Welcome to the forum. We seem to have two threads running on this topic.
(I just merged the two topics  )
Here is the meet time and place for those coming on Saturday. Look for the guys driving 4WD's and wearing either purple with black sleeve polo's or black with purple sleeve polo's. Give us an idea what vehicle you are driving and whoever is there will keep an eye out for you.

If you have the time we have a club meeting on Wednesday night 13 February 2013 from 7.00pm starting at 7.30pm if you want to come along and meet a few of us.

Anyway here is the meet up stuff.
Meeting Point:
The Shell servo at Aratula for 7am Departure time 7:30am
If you wish to make a long weekend of it you can meet us at the park but please let me know.

Good to see the interest starting to show. Alan, I think we'll discuss where we camp on Wednesday night and also leave it up to those that arrive early to secure the best spot.

Re: rivercity 4wd club membership drive weekend
Just letting you all know that Narelle and I will be heading up Friday afternoon, possibly around 1pm.
It's looking good for this weekend and we seem to have attracted quite a bit of interest, more to the point we appear to have a good mix of people attending including a few new and potential members who attended the club meeting last Wednesday.

We may end up running a few camp ovens so please bring yours along and some food to add to it, dampers are always a hit but jam and butter is a must so please bring some also, if you don't want to cook but can bring something to nibble on or add to the broth.

Please all drive safely and I will see you up there Big Grin

Re: rivercity 4wd club membership drive weekend
I believe Adrian will be there before 7.00am for a big breakfast. Lookout for a big green Patrol with Hekaree on the front and a big man driving it. He indicated that all will be leaving at 7.30am. Use channel 28 UHF to call up if you heppen to be runnign a few minutes late.

For those that are travelling alone or coming later. From Brisbane, Follow the Cunningham Hwy through Aratula and up and over Cunninghams Gap, keep going until you hit the driver reviver at Gladfield (signage here) turn right and keep following the road for about 20 minutes until you come to a 4 way intersection, hard right (signage) and about another 15-20 minutes you will come through a dog leg across a causeway and immediatley on your right is the entrance to Janowen Hills.

From conversations we will be towards the back end of the main level campgrounds, use 28 to us up if you don't recognise any vehicles.

Here's to a great weekend of 4WDing and camping.

A Big thanks to all that attended the weekend - and what a turn out!
mm Troopy and Mud, yep we don't seem to mix too well, geez was it fun but it took ages to get it out of my spring hangers and other parts of the car!!
Did I mention that I don't like mud

I would also like to thank all that helped arrange the weekend and a big thanks to my Mate Dave from Fortified Finance or as some know him "Feral Dave"
From all accounts Dave enjoyed the weekend as much as us and will be attending future events provided he is available.

Look forward to seeing more photos and the next Bull Dust - I have a few photo's but mainly of the camp grounds

Great photos. Look at the size of those gibbers coming out from under the tyres!!!!

Big Grin Laurence and I want to thank all of you ( but especially Peter of course ! ) for your welcome and that super week-end !
We enjoyed the camp , the tracks ( even if I couldn t challenge too much because of my tyres not very well adapted to the mod !)

Hope to see you soon for another trip/week-end and of course if you agree we should be proud to become a member of your wonderfull club

Cheers

marc & Lau

Marc and Lau

Really pleased you had a great time. Now the bug has bitten deeper it's time to head for the 4WD shop and check out what can make it better, how can I go further, what are the best tyres, so many questions, but the most important two are what should I do first and what represents the best value for money. I have spoken to Murray and Dave at Torq4x4, 82 Johnson Road, Hillcrest, 3472 5217 and said that you might get in touch, (I have no association with said business, other than being a very happy customer) they are waiting to see you. Don't forget to tell them that your from the River City 4WD Club.

And we will happily have you as members!!!
