Adrian, I was looking forward to this trip and had the weekend off and everything sorted around it. But as of Monday I'm out of town for 10 days. I may not even make it back for the meeting on the following Wednesday.

would love to have you along on this one i have been toldd this is very scenic how ever the dirty weekends book does rate it as medium level trip with a couple of very steep decents and climbs if how ever the weather is as it is now and does not look like clearing in time it recomends not doing this trip during or shortly after heavy rain as it does get very slippery. so i am waiting to see what the rain is going to do by wednsday and the forcast for next weekend before i decide either way i will be posting if it is a go or no go either wednsday or thursday at the latest. if it is cancelled it will be rescheduled for drier weather maybe a bit later in the year

Re: YABBA kilcoy to kenilworth.
THIS TRIP IS POSTPONED!!

due to the wet weather and the fact there is more to come, i dont believe the track will have a chance to dry out before we get to them. As i mentioned before there are soem very steep hills on this trip which according to the notews should be attempted during or after long rain periods. add to this also there are a number of creek crossings which could be effected by the rain conditions

i will reschedule this trip for some time later in the year when the weather is in our favour.

Re: Saturday 26th - 27th - Yabba Kilcoy to kenilworth
If I remember correctly, the directions i gave at the meeting on Wednesday night have proved that I am geographically challenged. I have confused Kilcoy with Dayboro.

I am attending.

Re: Saturday 26th - 27th - Yabba Kilcoy to kenilworth
As peter said the meeting place and time are the Kilroy baker @ 0900 and yes be departing by 0915 and as peter suggested get there early and enjoy fresh breaky at the bakery or even get something for lunch from them support the locals.

the tracks start from the Jimna fire tower and finish at south creek rd 5klm south west of kenilworth. distance is 77klm 75klms of dirt with some very steep descents

going by what the book says we should be able to do the track in one day and camp at charlie morland from there on the Sunday there are some rain forests to explore and swimming holes to enjoy before heading home in the afternoon

this is a brief of what the book says about it if it rains these tracks will get interesting but i am not postponing it a second time so we are on have not decided on whether to take the trail as yet will wai to decide when it gets closer.

October 2013 - 26,27 - Yabba Kilcoy to Kenilworth
Good to see a bit of life around the place - LOL

This post was prompted by a Friend of mine asking of we had any outings that he may be able to attend, I remembered this trip then could not find a reference to it, if there is one please let me know and I will merge it with this one or delete it - either way we don't want a repeat of the same trip information :x

Good to see my gray matter is still functioning!
I only forget important things like.. um

At this stage my weekend looks free so provided I survive turning 50 on the 19th, and/or Narelle has not booked me in for something else I should be there..

Adrian had posted this earlier but the trip was postponed due to rain, so there you go - it's all now up to date and on once more

Re: 2013 - October - 26,27 - Yabba Kilcoy to Kenilworth
I am at this stage planning to attend with my son Erik
love the area as this was around the 2013 Corroboree, so should be good
I have a VMS GPS if that will be of any help during the trip
will check out the onboard maps for any good trails that match the dirty weekends book, I do have a copy as well

Looking forward

you might want to give Torq 4x4 a call and speak to Dave there he should be able to point you in the right direction to get it fixed ASAP http://www.torq4x4.com.au

Re: 2013 - October - 26,27 - Yabba Kilcoy to Kenilworth
Unfortunately I am out
with the noise in the rear end, the mechanic thought is was brakes, but no obvious signs in there :?:
booked in for next week however I will spend the weekend pulling out the axles and diff, to see if all is well as we just installed rear lockers so something there might be the cause :?
I suspect axle bearings but only looking will tell

Enjoy the trip wish i was there, wanted to give the lockers a work out if possible Wink
my son is happy though as I will take him to the radio club instead
