2014 May - Fri 23-24-25 Fraser Cleanup COMPLETED
Many details to come;

Some of us are thinking of making this a week long trip so the dates may change or be extended!
If this happens a separate post will be made for this as it will be an addition the cleanup weekend trip.

Currently the usual cleanup action is for members to rock up Friday first light for the Barge at inskip point,
We set up camp and then do some exploring - the cleanup only takes part of one day or as long as it takes to do the section we have been allotted.

Pros and Cons,
For just the cleanup times/dates you will receive a discount on the Barge, free camping and free island vehicle permit.
But if you intend on staying either before or after the allotted times you will receive free camping for the cleanup days but may still be required to pay full fair for the Barge and the currently $41 vehicle permit - plus the camping fees for non cleanup dates.
Currently the Barge is $110 return - non discount per car - caravans and trailers are extra
A Vehicle permit is Min for one Month and is $41.??
Camping Fees are $5.40 per Adult per night

All Prices are from memory and may change at any time - or if I remember something else Tongue

Johnny Navara is the usual trip organiser for the cleanup so he will have further updates as they become available

Who Was attending - but has pulled out.

1 - Johnny
2 - Peter R & Scott - TroopyPete - $5 Paid
3 - Les - sirlezz
4 - Steve & Wendy - Weatherman - $5 Paid
5 - Jason & Jane & Bub - Hdj78rv - $5 Paid
6 - Merv Richens & Ian - $5 Paid

Who Was attending - but has pulled out.

1 - Dave & Deb - Time bandit
2 - Kris and Elizabeth Wells - Jake the Musso
3 - Victor Cox & two daughters (Victoria & Jasmane)
4 - Mick & son Tayla - SPARKY

If you intend on coming and your name is not on the list please let us know ASAP.
** Please Pay your $5 Deposit ASAP and let us know so your name can be added to the list.

14th Annual Fraser Island Clean Up
Call for Expressions of Interest – Returned by 1St Feb 2014

Hello Member Clubs

All participating clubs are to be financial with 4WD Qld and possess PL insurance.

The Annual Fraser Island Clean Up is once again being planned.

When: 23rd – 26th May 2014

Location: Various locations around Fraser Island, in cooperation with QPWS

What will be happening?

Saturday morning
- Registration Open, Arrive on the island, set up camp, time for your own club to explore the Island.

Sunday - Clean Up Activities, followed by presentations, evening entertainment & BBQ.

Monday - Explore some more and sadly time to pack and head home, unless you or your club want to extend the visit*

Where do we camp?

Each club will be designated a camp area (beach camping ONLY). If your club would like to use one of the designated

Group Camping Areas at Central Station or Dundubara, please notify this on the form returned by 1st February, 2014. QPWS.png

We request that clubs do NOT make their own arrangements for camping on the island.*

*QPWS vehicle & camping fees will again be waived for the long weekend. Of course, if any of your club’s members intend to arrive before or stay

after the times stated above they will be required to pay all the normal fees applicable. Advising us of this scenario will mean that you may not have

to relocate camp after the cleanup.

How do we get there?

4WD Qld have negotiated reduced barge fares between the mainland and Fraser Island. Information on prices will be

available closer to the event.

Our club is interested, how do we register?

All clubs are being asked to initially notify 4WD Qld of their intention to participate in the clean-up, along with a rough

number of participants. Once we have this number, we will be able to ascertain whether we need to limit the number of

vehicles from each club. To advise of your club's interest, simply ask your Club Secretary to send an email with

following information to ficu@4wdqld.com.au.

• Club Name

• Number of members (please split into adults and children)

• Number of vehicles

Formal registrations will be taken in End March 2014.

NB: The event is only open to financial club members only. This means only club members and their own children.

Sorry No other family members or friends allowed.

Please advise your club's interest and numbers by 1st February 2014

Fund Raising for the Event:

There will be a $5 per vehicle registration fee introduced this year, this will assist with the cost of running the event and eliminate raffle ticket sales. Your registration number will be your draw number and is transferable but not refundable. Please do not pay until finial club numbers to be received by April 2014.

Barge Costs

MantaRay.jpg

Once again, Manta Ray Fraser Island Barges and River Heads Barges are reducing the fees for participants of the Clean Up.

The fees this year are: Car Only: =$70
Car $70 with trailer $30 total amount $100

I have sent an Email to Manaray directly requesting if we can stay longer and retain the cheaper fare - stay tuned

All Clubs Expression of Interest numbers much be return to FICU by 1st February 2014.

We will keep you updated over the coming months, in the meantime if you have any questions, please ask your CARE

Representative, or contact Nola ficu@4wdqld.com.au

With your help, we look forward to making the 2014 clean up another successful 4WD Qld event!

Hello Fraser Comers

At the last fraser meeting it is confirmed that ferry fees are
cars-$70 & trailers-$30
Not too sure about the discount window but it should be daylight friday to sunset monday

It is also known the the beach at this date is nothing like it was last year most of those rocks are well and truely burried again

But do not discount mother nature to make a mess of things before we go

More info as it come to hand

Hello Fraseriers

Here is the latest February info
The allocation of our campsites will be done by the end of the month
The rangers are DEAD SET against any work/cleanup over on the west coast only the eastern beach to be targeted(more talk to come)
Their are a few other clubs staying longer up the tip and any of us are welcome to join them but if you wish the normal fees will apply

The beach is the best it has been for years

K'gari our campsite last year is now fenced

Low tide is about noon

The BBQ thankyou is still on on the sunday night at Eurong resort

More details next month

Greetings Comers

This is the February update

The rangers have or only want the Eastern beach from Hook Point running north to Ocean Beach cleaned

Anyway the good news (still to be confirmed)
once your permits have been received Costa of the Mantra Ray Ferry will honour them for going over and coming back for a couple of days prior to the event and the week just after

Which means that you maybe able to cross over earlier and come back later

But for reasons known only to Costa the barge fees must be paid only in CASH on the barge

At the club meeting we decided to nominate six cars for the trip, and then seek nominations from members

Johnny will manage the nominations and contact with the organisers
and he has asked for the same section of beach as last year
Definitely no official cleaning up on the western beaches for this year that was made clear by the rangers

Paid $5 deposit for the trip so far

Re: 2014 May - Fri 23-24-25 Fraser Cleanup
Hello Frasers

Now depending on your travel arrangements

I (maybe some others) will be spending the night (thursday) at the tyre let-down carpark at Inskip Point

Also depending on who is coming up Thursday we may meet up somewhere on the north coast highway and all roll into rainbow together

As last year will cross at first light am friday

I am not sure about where we will camp (base camp)

However I will be staying at the rego tent at Cornwalls Break rd

So for those coming up am Saturday (if you only get monday off) I can be found at Cornwalls both from daylight to noon both friday and saturday

So I can then let you know where the rest will be

So stay tunned for more info

Hi Guys, Wendy and I will be heading up Thursday night after work so hopefully we will miss the traffic but that means we will properly arrive somewhere between 9 and 10 pm. For the people heading up Thursday are we camping at the same spot as last year?

RE: 2014 May - Fri 23-24-25 Fraser Cleanup
Hi Steve & Wendy & readers..

My current plan is to also head up Thursday afternoon with the plan to camp at inskip point Thursday night heading over to the Island first light Friday.
My Father "Merv" is also heading up but will be arriving quite late..

Could attending members please let us know your plans as we need to get on the beach early Friday if we are to make it to the Cape Lighthouse, Beach early or the tides will be an issue..
We can wait for a short while but not for too long so if your plan is to join us you MUST be there early!

Current plan is to Camp the first night at the Cape, do a little fishing and basically sit back and relax, some may wish to do the walk to the light house, either way we are limited only by the tides..

Saturday morning will see us heading back down the coast to set up camp in the designated site and Johnny will most likely do our official check in.
We may then head over to the west coast for a drive and maybe some swimming or fishing depending on the mood and conditions.

Sunday morning is the official cleanup day, this usually keeps us busy until around lunch time, then we have the afternoon to relax, that evening is the official dinner/BBQ at eurong - remember not Alcohol as the place is licensed.

Monday is a free day but we must be off the Island by the last barge - 5pm would be a safe time possibly earlier depending on the tides and how you wish to travel.

Few points..
You MUST have the official Cleanup sticker on your car - these can be picked up at the next meeting or from Johnny at inskip on Friday morning.
The Barge is $70 per car - to be paid in cash on the Barge.

There is Fuel, water and food on the island but we are camping remote on the first night so you need to be self sufficient & Remember Fuel is quite expensive on the island.
