20081006 Geiger Rd outing
Hi Everyone on Satruday the 6th of October we are proposing a dinner night drive  Big Grin

The context of this trip is to have an interesting afternoon drive, a wonderful meal at the pub finishing with another interesting night drive home
  • Geiger Rd at Boonah was discovered attending the Kalbar Corroboree and we have driven it a number of times just for the fun of it
  • you will need 4wd low range in some parts,
We will meet at 4.30pm in the Boonah Information Centre just the Cunningham Hwy side of the main roundabout for a 5pm roll out
there is shade and toilets there too and you can pick up a map of the area while you  are waiting  Idea

We will then proceed to the Alandale end of Geiger rd and traverse it down the hill and then up to the tremendous view of the Great Dividing range at Green Hills

Our next stop will be the Dugandan Pub for a meal  (Legendary so Darryl advises) check it out on the following link and press the new menu link
https://www.dugandanhotel.com.au/dining.html

Then on the way home we will retrace our steps to Geiger Rd from the Green Hills end and traverse it in the dark for an added bonus  Angel Heart

Once at the top end of the road after the last gate we can celebrate another great trip out before working our way home again

Our Trip Leader will be Steve and Tail End Charlie will be Les

Bring your cameras especially for the night time run

Maybe Steve will bring along his drone too

One option is to visit the Mt French Lookout at Dusk for a tremendous sunset and photo opportunity  and it is only 10ks from the pub, and we can discuss it further on the day for interest

Hi Guys, Looking at the weather forecast for later in the week it is expecting some rain around Wednesday Thursday so we will have to see how much they get out that way as for the ones that have been out there when it has been wet know that coming back up the hill might be a little Slippery. We will get and idea when we go through there the first time as we go down hill.
Hi Guys,

Looking at the people that have mentioned to me that are attending we look at having a good number of cars mixed with members and a few Visitors. So if you are thinking of attending this trip please post a reply to this post so we can get possible numbers as we will need to book a table at the pub for dinner.

People going that I know of are

Steve & Wendy       Dmax
Clint & Family         79s or/& Prado
Tim & Family          Patrol & Hilux?

Well for those that came 11 cars in all it turned out to be a washout with the late afternoon rain making the road just too slippery to attempt
A retreat to the pub for food was a welcome diversion and some even travelled the Condamine twice before heading home

Big thing is that we will plan this trip again next year in drier conditions on short notice and have a bbq instead of a pub dinner and return for a dark night run back up the road

hope to see you then
